Overview

Protection is the last step rather than the first. Before anything is applied the paint is assessed and decontaminated, and where correction is appropriate that work is agreed and carried out beforehand — a coating holds the condition of the paint underneath it, whatever that condition is.

What gets applied is chosen around the car: its finish, its present condition, and how it is used, stored and washed. A car kept under cover and used occasionally is not asking for the same thing as one used through winter. How to look after it afterwards is part of the job, not an afterthought.

Protection Matched to the Car

The right answer depends on the car in front of us. How it is stored, how often it is washed, what mileage it covers and what the paint is like now all bear on what is worth applying — so what is proposed for one car is not automatically what is proposed for the next.

Preparation Before Protection

A coating does not correct anything; it holds what is underneath it. Decontamination comes first, and where the paint would benefit from correction that is discussed and agreed before any protection is applied, so nothing is sealed in that you would rather have had put right.
